Social Media Roundup: Spotting “Potter” in the Muggle World

Welcome back to another edition of MuggleNet’s Social Media Roundup! Catch up with some of your favorite Wizarding World stars as they sign over 3,000 books, record podcast episodes, and spot Potter references in the wild.

Bonnie Wright took a break from writing her book and shared a photo from her visit to Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood. The newly expanded Studio Tour reopened in June and contains a new “Action and Magic Made Here” grand finale that offers fans a behind-the-scenes look at the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts movies.

Bonnie isn’t the only Potter alumni taking a break from writing. Evanna Lynch took a break from editing her book, The Opposite of Butterfly Hunting, to explore the countryside and put a ‘swing’ back in her step.

While Bonnie and Evanna are still working on their writing endeavors, David Thewlis (Remus Lupin) is one step closer to the publication date for his latest novel, Shooting Martha. He shared photos and a timelapse video from a day he spent with his publishers in which he signed 3,500 copies of the book.

Jessie Cave (Lavender Brown) and her sister Bebe took to the stage at Latitude Festival to record a live episode of their podcast We Can’t Talk About That Right Now.

We get excited when we come across Potter references in the Muggle world, and it seems as though James Phelps (Fred Weasley) is just the same. We bet the owner of this car has been on some magical adventures!

Sticking with cars, Oliver Phelps (George Weasley) shared a photo of an evening trip he took in his classic car.

To mark the start of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, John Cleese (Nearly Headless Nick) shared a clip from a classic Monty Python sketch.

Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein) celebrated the arrival of her new movie, The World To Come, in theaters. The movie sees Waterston and Vanessa Kirby tell the love story of two neighboring women who live on remote farms in 19th-century New England.

Dawn French (The Fat Lady, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) promoted the launch of her new TV special with comedy partner Jennifer Saunders. French & Saunders: Funny women sees the pair dive into the archives in a celebration of female comedy.

And finally, Tom Felton took to Twitter to wish Daniel Radcliffe a happy birthday. For one day only, Felton conceded Gryffindor supremacy over Slytherin.

That’s it for this edition of MuggleNet’s Social Media Roundup! Check back in two weeks’ time to find out what stars of the Wizarding World have been up to.
