Roses are red, your lips can be too. So long as you follow the TikTok trend we’re about to show you.
We hope you liked our poem, as this lipstick hack is a great bet for rosy lips in time for Valentine’s Day or really anytime for an all-day lip stain look to achieve in seconds. Plus, since this is a lip stain and not a lipstick, it won’t get all smudged when you’re wearing a mask.
Like many hacks, we found this product on TikTok, after videos showing the Wonderskin Wonder Blading Peel & Reveal Lip Color went viral. The product applies onto the lips in a vivid and almost shocking purple color, which looks amazing on camera and racked up hundreds of thousands of views.
However, it’s what’s underneath that really counts, as when you peel away the purple layer, it reveals a beautiful shade of pink, red or orange on your lips that lasts — no smudging or smearing here.
In a follow up video, she also tests the product for over six hours and after that time, plus a plate of spaghetti and some kisses on her man, the lip color barely showed signs of fading or cracking.
This duet by Janae Lockard racked up more than 2.3 million likes and over 14.4 million views — so naturally we had to try it out for ourselves.
Our review of the Wonderskin Wonderblading Lip Stain
Per instructions from the company and all of the viral TikTok videos, I was told to exfoliate my lips for the best results. Needing all the help I could get with my chapped winter lips, I actually used the Wonderskin brand exfoliator stick. The 3-in-1 Lip Scrub ($19.50) comes in an easy-to-use pencil and exfoliates, moisturizes and then locks in that moisture to prep my lips for the main event — the lip stain.
I ordered a few different colors, but wanted to start with the shade from all of the viral videos called First Kiss, which is supposed to be a bright cranberry pink. The kit ($32) came with everything I needed, including the lip color and the activator spray, as well as a black mini towel to help wipe off any excess spray and protect my chin.
After applying the bright blue-ish purple formula to my lips three times and letting it dry for about 45 seconds each time, the moment to peel and reveal came. Since I found it on TikTok, I figured the best way to show you how it works would be making one of my own, so here it is for your viewing pleasure. Note: I am incredibly new to the TikTok game, so be gentle in the comments!
I also wanted to try out some other shades in the line up, including Glamorous, Divine and Adore, which is one of their lighter tints as opposed to the other bright full-color shades. However, one pro that may be a con (just for now at least) is that removing the product isn’t that easy, especially if you recently applied it. I found the best way to remove the product is by using an oil-based makeup remover, my favorite being Farmacy’s Green Clean Cleansing Balm. Warning: You may have sensitive lips for a bit if you scrub too hard like I did.
See the slides below for a look at the rest of the colors, noting the shades in the captions.
Other things to note about this cool product is that it is also vegan, cruelty-free and gluten-free, which I personally love to see in the beauty industry. Plus, they are also skin tone inclusive, showing what the product will look like on different people of different races.
All in all, as I say in my first-ever TikTok review: I give this product a 10 out of 10. The color is incredibly vivid and beautiful, the product is easy to apply once you get the hang of it and the formula lasts a super long time. I also did wear this under my mask and there was no smudging to be found, which makes this a perfect product for 2022.
