OpenAI jumps to health care space. Could AI improve it? – NBC Bay Area


AI has been touted as a tool to improve everything, but one of its biggest targets is health care. On Thursday, one of the biggest names in AI jumped into the health care space.

San Francisco-based OpenAI, the makers of ChatGPT, announced they now have a new AI model focused on life sciences and drug discovery. OpenAI is not the only one; many other big companies such as Google, Microsoft and Anthropic have also been targeting health care for a while.

Health care companies looking to integrate AI say the more competition, the better. Companies like QuantHealth use AI to speed up the process of identifying new medications and get them to patients faster.
