The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a

* Snow Squall Warning for…

Wayne County in western New York…

Northeastern Livingston County in western New York…

Southeastern Orleans County in western New York…

Cayuga County in central New York…

Southwestern Oswego County in central New York…

Northeastern Genesee County in western New York…

Monroe County in western New York…

Northern Ontario County in western New York…

* Until 1000 PM EST.

* At 859 PM EST, a dangerous snow squall was located along a line

extending from 7 miles north of Chimney Bluffs State Park to Byron,

moving east at 35 mph.

HAZARD…Intense bursts of heavy snow and gusty winds leading to

blowing snow and rapidly falling visibility. Wind gusts

greater than 40 mph.

SOURCE…Radar and webcams.

IMPACT…Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous

within minutes.

This includes the following highways…

Interstate 390 between exits 8 and 12.

Interstate 90 between exits 43 and 47.

Locations impacted include…

Rochester, Greece, Irondequoit, Chili, Fulton, Canandaigua,

Brockport, Geneseo, East Rochester and Hilton.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Slow Down! Rapid changes in visibility and road conditions are

expected with this dangerous snow squall. Be alert for sudden

whiteout conditions.

…ARCTIC COLD FRONT WITH A BAND OF HEAVY SNOW AND GUSTY WINDS

APPROACHING CENTRAL NEW YORK…

At 851 PM EST, an arctic cold front was crossing Lake Ontario,

moving east-southeast at 45 mph. This front will be accompanied by a

band of heavy snow and strong northwest wind gusts around 35 mph as
