Explained: How social media takes a toll on sex life
Using social media too much can make a person feel more isolated from others – emotionally distant from a partner which can impair sexual function. For this study, experts quizzed 1166 people about their sex life and their smartphone and social media use patterns.
It was discovered that those who spent too much time on social media struggled a great deal in the bedroom – women found it difficult to get in the more, were less happy in their sex life, and dealt with more pain after sex
Men, on the other hand, did not experience changes in libido but struggled with erectile dysfunction and felt unsatisfied as compared to others who spent less time online.
Researchers noted that problematic use of social media can heighten the risk of sexual dysfunction or difficulties. Apart from this, social media addiction can disrupt sleep and take a toll on mental health as well.
