The Philadelphia 76ers were in trouble on the road on Monday when they took on an energetic Charlotte Hornets. Even with the Hornets missing the likes of LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier, the Sixers had trouble with a young and athletic team.
Philadelphia needed Joel Embiid to come to the rescue and he did in a huge way. The big fella dropped 42 points on 15-for-20 shooting, pulled down 14 rebounds, and he had seven assists to drag the Sixers to a 127-124 overtime win over Charlotte. Embiid was absolutely dominant all night long and the Hornets were pretty helpless in this one.
After his huge performance, NBA Twitter from analysts to fans had plenty to say about the big fella who forced overtime and then was huge in the extra period:

That was a heck of a play by Joel Embiid, bringing the ball upcourt himself and burying a jumper to tie the game at 119 with 30 seconds to go against a Hornets team down several guys due to the NBA’s health and safety protocols.
