The Westport Museum for History and Culture recently launched a #WhatsYourWestport? social media campaign.
Museum visitors are invited to write in a hashtag phrase or a “post” about their favorite Westport things on an oversized Polaroid-style frame and take a picture. They can then post the image on social media and tag the Museum on Instagram @westporthistorymuseum and Twitter @westporthistory.
The campaign is part of the museum’s oral history work. It’s free and available during the museum’s hours of operation.
People can also take the frame off the museum grounds for up to an hour for the project as long as they leave a deposit in case it is damaged or lost.
The museum is located at 25 Avery Place.
Drybar shop opening in Westport
Drybar Westport is opening at the Village Center on Aug. 5.

Former Westport resident publishes new novel book
The Rootstock Publishing company has announced a new young adult novel book, “No Excuses,” by author Stephen L. Harris.
The book will be released on Tuesday and is about a Vietnam veteran and a Vermont teen who lives on a farm. It pulls from his son’s experience playing sports at Staples High School in the 1980s.
Harris lived in Westport with his family from 1982 to 1999.

New zoning official named
The Planning and Zoning Department has promoted Michael Tartaglia to serve as a zoning official for Westport.
Tartaglia graduated with honors from Bloomfield College New Jersey, with a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration and management. While still in college, founded his own company repairing cell phone devices and tablets and managing the company’s business operations. He then worked for Marriott as an assistant operations manager before joining the Westport Planning and Zoning Department in November 2020.
He’s been managing the department’s front office and preparing department budgets prior to his promotion to zoning official.
The zoning official is responsible for processing zoning permits, variance requests and zoning complaints, as well as responding to residents’ zoning questions.
