Spotify, in particular, has seen over 40,000 user-submitted outage reports, highlighting the scale of the issue. Many users say they cannot access playlists, stream music, or even open the app. Other affected services, including delivery and messaging platforms, report similar difficulties, leading to consumer frustration. With Google potentially playing a role in the outages, businesses reliant on its cloud infrastructure could be experiencing collateral disruptions.
Is OpenAI down right now?
Currently, there are only around 350 reports of issues with OpenAI and ChatGPT as of 2:52 p.m. ET.
OpenAI’s widely used chatbot, ChatGPT, also experienced a significant outage on Tuesday, leaving many users unable to access the platform. Reports of disruptions began appearing early, with OpenAI acknowledging the issue just before 11:30 a.m. The company said that users were experiencing high error rates and slow response times across its services, promising to investigate the cause.
By late afternoon, OpenAI reported that it had identified the problem, though performance issues persisted as the system underwent recovery.
Google Cloud outage: What we know
Google Cloud is experiencing widespread service disruptions affecting multiple products due to an ongoing Identity and Access Management (IAM) issue, the company reported. The outage, which began at 1:51 a.m. ET on Thursday, is impacting services such as Cloud Storage, Cloud Bigtable, Cloud Workstations, and Vertex AI Search, among others. According to Google’s service health dashboard, affected regions span across North America, Europe, Asia, and beyond, including major hubs like Tokyo, London, São Paulo, and Sydney.
Users and businesses relying on Google Cloud services have reported difficulty accessing key applications due to API request failures, with no immediate workaround available. Google’s engineering team is actively investigating the issue and has promised further updates. While the full scope of the disruption is unclear, previous incidents of IAM service failures have caused significant slowdowns in cloud-based operations.
Google has apologized for the disruption and acknowledged the widespread impact on global customers. The company is expected to provide further details as recovery efforts continue. In the meantime, affected users are advised to monitor Google’s official service status page for updates and remain patient as engineers work to restore functionality across the impacted platforms.
Is Spotify down right now?
While issues have slightly decreased from its peak of over 46,000 reports to around 43,000 in the last thirty minutes, according to Downdetector, people continue to experience issues with the audio platform.
Users have commented on a JWT error that appears when using the website: “Audiences in JWT are not allowed.” The app also showed a connection error.
Spotify has yet to comment on the issues users reported during the outage’s peak.
