For some businesses it’s been hard to get employees inside the door. For a local bar, they are using social media tools to draw in unique applicants.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) —For some businesses it’s been hard to get employees inside the door. For a local bar, they are using social media tools to draw in unique applicants.
“I think people are on social media all the time. You think of the world as your focus group of one, it’s the first place to start, right? So, how do you use your phone?” Matt Taylor, the owner of Tavern on the Square and The Other Room, said of social media use.
Taylor said he’s used places like Facebook Jobs to post openings and he’s seen a fairly constant flow of applicants through that service.
He said it’s important to adapt to what’s happening in the world and the rise of social media certainly plays a big role in moving forward.
“Getting resume flow, is what’s important to us. Because, ultimately, we want to hire great people. You can only do that if you get a bunch of options,” Taylor said.
Currently in Nebraska, there are around 40,000 job openings across the state.
While Taylor said they have been able to adapt to the pandemic and keep as many people employee’d as possible, they are always looking to add staff.
The past year was tough but they are looking forward to celebrating a big milestone this year. They are calling it their 10 year anniversary, plus one. The Pandemic halted celebrations for their 10th year in 2020, so they are coming back even stronger in 2021.
