Hartford Police / Contributed Photo /HARTFORD — Police say they have arrested a local man on charges related to witness tampering.
Kyle Haye, 34, of Farmington Avenue, was charged Wednesday with tampering with a witness and inciting injury to person for his role in distributing footage of a witness testimony on social media, according to police. Bond was set at $250,000.
On June 23, the Hartford Police Department’s Intelligence Division learned that a cellphone video of a witness testifying in a homicide trial with ties to a cold case had been posted on social media, according to police. The video, which depicted the witness identifying the shooter in the case on the stand, had been posted “in a threatening manner,” police said. References to the witness being a “rat” were associated with it, police said.
Investigating officers with the Intelligence Division said they identified the person who recorded the video and social media users who had shared it. A warrant was issued for Haye’s arrest, according to police. He was taken into custody by detectives. A second arrest is also pending, police said.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
