The harmful, anti-consumer impact of the law is clear, even to Florida policymakers. As state Rep. Randy Fine, R-Palm Bay, perceptively noted, “My concern is about potential candidates, about crazy people, Nazis and child molesters and pedophiles who realize they can say anything they want — and by the way, it can’t even be deprioritized under this bill; it’s got to be at the top of the page — if all they do is fill out those two pieces of paper [to qualify as a candidate].”
