SANTA FE — Until Wednesday, the website for the State Auditor’s Office displayed personal social-media messages from State Auditor Brian Colón — including an invitation to participate in campaign events to support his run for attorney general.

The messages were contained in a widget that showed the latest tweets or Facebook posts by Colón, a Democrat.

The Auditor’s Office removed the social-media stream from the page Wednesday after being contacted by the Journal.

“Let me be very clear,” Colón said. “It’s 100% inappropriate, and we have already taken it down.”

The page still has links to Colón’s Twitter and Facebook accounts, but the messages aren’t automatically shown on the front page of the website any longer.
