Amul pays moving tribute to Surekha Sikri in viral post. Read here

Dairy brand Amul paid a heartfelt tribute to veteran actress Surekha Sikri who died on July 16 in Mumbai after suffering a cardiac arrest. She was 75. In a post on social media, Amul shared a graphic and captioned it, “Tribute to three time National Film Award-winning actress Surekha Sikri.”

The black and white graphic that Amul shared features animated sketches of iconic characters that Surekha Sikri played on screen. For example, her role of Dadisaa in the television series Balika Vadhu, as well as that of Durga Devi Kaushik in the 2018 hit film Badhaai Ho.

“Har role mein Badhaai mili,” reads the caption on the graphic of Amul’s post.

Surekha Sikri’s manager confirmed the news of her death to news agency PTI on Thursday morning, saying, “Three-time national award winning actress, Surekha Sikri has passed away following a cardiac arrest earlier this morning at the age of 75. She had been suffering from complications arising from a second brain stroke. She was surrounded by family and her caregivers. The family asks for privacy at this time. Om Sai Ram.”

Politicians including Arvind Kejriwal as well as Mamata Banerjee condoled Surekha Sikri’s death on social media.

Surekha Sikri is the star of television shows Banegi Apni Baat, Balika Vadhu, Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil and Saat Phere – Saloni Ka Safar. She also appeared in the films Sheer Qorma and Ghost Stories.
