Democrats and Republicans hope this hearing will usher in sweeping changes throughout Silicon Valley.
Rep. David N. Cicilline (D-R.I.), the leader of the House’s top antitrust subcommittee, announced the hearing in June, saying that the investigation won’t target a specific company but rather focus on the broad view that the “Internet is broken.”
This is not the first time Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has appeared before Congress, but it will be a first for Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.
