METAMORA (WEEK) – Most folks are starting to feel the adverse affects of social distancing and quarantine. Being away from friends and family for so long can be hard. That’s why one local couple is playing music, loud and proud, for all to hear. It’s all in an effort to bring the community together.
Every day at noon, Rick and Lisa Doty are blasting ‘God Bless America’ and ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ in their quiet Metamora neighborhood.
“Feeling that we ourselves needed to be connected to the neighbors that we can’t actually sit and talk to it was important for us to at least let them know, as loudly as we could, that we were there for them and that we miss them,” explained Lisa Doty via FaceTime.
The Doty’s started the tradition last Wednesday to honor the essential workers on their street. It’s also a way to remind neighbors they’re thinking of them during this down time.
The Doty’s said they will continue to play music at noon every day as long as the ‘Stay at Home Order’ is in place.
