Waterloo police are investigating after this threat started circulating on social media.
Waterloo police started investigating the threat around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday. A screenshot of a Snapchat post started circulating on social media which reads, “I’m blowing up east west and Carver and central tomorrow.”
“The Waterloo Police department is working in conjunction with the Waterloo Community School District to identify the individual(s) responsible for these posts,” according to a press release posted on the Waterloo Police Department’s website.
According to a Facebook post on the district’s page, “The police and school staff worked throughout the night to investigate this social media threat. While we made great progress in resolving the issue; there is still additional investigation that needs to be completed prior to students returning to school. Out of an abundance of caution and to allow the police to complete their investigation, we are canceling school for today. Please know the safety of our students is our first priority. Thank you for your patience.”
