Thane: ‘Content on social media needs tracking’ | Mumbai News

KALYAN: Leader of opposition in Maharashtra legislative assembly Pravin Darekar on Friday said objectionable content on social media is polluting the minds of the younger generation.
“In the Dombivli rape case, the victim and the accused came in contact through social media platforms. The misuse of social media and its negative impact on the minds of the youth has become a serious matter of concern. It is a major trigger for such crimes against women,” he said.
Darekar said such content and apps must be under strict control and vigilance.
He said despite many incidents, there was no discussion by government on the subject by involving experts and NGOs.
(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
