Popularity these days is often ranked by social media status, though this isn’t always the case with celebrities. While some embrace social media services like Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and TikTok, others prefer to stay out of the world wide web limelight.
Given these personal choices, sometimes the actors who are most active on social media aren’t the ones who are the most popular on a television show or in the movie business. When it comes to the series Lucifer, the cast members with the biggest social following on Instagram, and those with the smallest, might be surprising to fans.
11 Rachael Harris – 845,000 Followers
Despite having appeared on other big series as well, like Suits, Rachael Harris, who plays Dr. Linda Martin, has the smallest number of followers among the main cast members. With that said, she’s still close to a million, which is pretty impressive. And she actually ranks sixth in terms of Instagram followers among cast members from Suits.
She is active on the site as well, having posted more than 1,200 items to date including promos for Lucifer, personal photos, news articles, and more. Her bio also links to The Store, a free grocery store that operates all year long to help those in need.
10 Kevin Alejandro – 892,000 Followers
Detective Dan or, as Lucifer likes to call him, Detective Douche, is second-to-last in terms of Instagram followers, despite also being pretty active with more than 1,100 posts. He, too, promotes everything Lucifer but also mixes in some personal photos, including plenty of selfies.
He also actively encouraged people to go out and vote during election time and posted about some other acting projects. There are some stunning black and whites among the lot as well.
9 Tom Welling – 1 Million Followers
One might think that Superman himself – Tom Welling played the superhero character in the long-running series Smallville – would be one of the most-followed from the cast seeing as he was one of the most high-profile actors when he played Marcus Pierce in season 3. But alas, he doesn’t rank too highly.
This might be, in part, because Welling doesn’t really participate that much on the site. The fact that he has a million followers after only posting 28 times is pretty impressive. His posts are mostly personal and provide a nice glimpse into his real life.
8 Tricia Helfer – 1.1 Million Followers
The Canadian actor who did double duty as both Charlotte Richards and the Goddess of all Creation on the show is pretty active on Instagram with 1,600+ posts. She is followed by some big names in the business, like The Walking Dead‘s Greg Nicotero.
The actor, who also appeared in the series Van Helsing, posts a mix of things, from personal photos to selfies, memes, and quite a few cat photos.
7 Scarlett Estevez – 1.2 Million Followers
Little Trixie is not so little, as is evidenced by the photos in the 13-year-old’s account. Estevez might only be a teenager, but she has already racked up some serious credits, including in the movies Daddy’s Home and Daddy’s Home 2 as well as the Disney series Bunk’d.
She posts lots of interesting photos of herself in various locations and poses, as many teenagers do these days. Some throwback photos remind fans just how much she has grown over the course of the show.
6 Inbar Lavi – 1.3 Million Followers
Known as the upbeat, sweet, and fiercely wild Eve to fans of Lucifer, Lavi might also look familiar from her lead role on the series Imposters. With 1,000+ Instagram posts, and following just as many accounts, Lavi shares some beautifully posed photos showcasing her personality.
There are also screenshots of news articles, including a recent one confirming her casting in the psychological thriller Vronika. Additionally, she sprinkles in a few inspirational quotes, memes, or images here and there.
5 D.B. Woodside – 1.8 Million Followers
Amenadiel himself, Woodside has an impressive resume beyond Lucifer, so it’s no surprise that he ranks among the top-five for Instagram followers. Some of his most notable other credits include Suits, Single Ladies, Parenthood, and, of course, as Wayne Palmer (eventually President Wayne Palmer), where he ranks among the best presidents featured on 24.
Woodside posts lots of images promoting Lucifer along with some political posts and very powerful quotes. He has only posted 616 times so to have as many followers as he does is a testament to the actor and character’s popularity.
4 Aimee Garcia – 2.6 Million Followers
Aimee Garcia, who plays the adorable Ella, one of the most likable characters on Lucifer, was another actor who joined the series having some pretty big credits to her name already, including starring in the sitcom George Lopez, on the period drama Vegas, and in a small role on Showtime series Dexter.
Promoting her production company on the site, @scrappyheartproductions, she also links in her bio to a news story that confirms her casting in the second season of Hulu series Woke. Her posts include photos and more from Lucifer as well as other projects.
3 Lesley-Ann Brandt – 3.1 Million Followers
Fans might be surprised to know that Brandt, who plays the stylish Mazikeen has the third-most number of followers of the main cast members. Before snagging this role, the South African actor was mostly appearing in TV series in New Zealand, so she wasn’t really known in North America. She first got on the radar, however, after starring as Naevia in Spartacus: Blood and Sand.
She keeps her account consistently updated with close to 4,000 posts to date including photos of all kinds, including many of her daughter and other friends and family.
2 Lauren German – 3.6 Million Followers
Not surprisingly, the lead actor ranks in the top two among most Instagram followers among the cast. What’s most interesting is that, true to her character of Chloe, German seemingly doesn’t have much of an interest in social media anyway. She has only posted 331 times and does not follow anyone on the site.
Still, she has plenty of people who are interested in seeing what she posts, however, which includes mostly selfies and lots and lots of photos of dogs.
1 Tom Ellis – 9.8 Million Followers
It comes as no surprise that Lucifer himself, the title character of the series, has the most followers, and by a mile, at that: he nearly triples German who sits in second place, by creeping close to 10 million.
Beautifully, he uses the platform to promote Great Ormond Street Hospital children’s charity in his bio, for which he serves as an ambassador. His posts, meanwhile, focus mainly on Lucifer but there are lots of fun photos, too, and promotions for partnerships, like with the sustainable Super Human clothing brand. He also posted a note back in February 2021 indicating that other accounts people might be following without the blue “verified” tick are not his official ones. “Please use your common sense on the Internet,” he urged.
